I don’t know how many of you are aware of the festivities going on in the small city of Jaipur but let me tell you that the venue of India’s greatest literary fest is decorated like a bride and is all set to provide an unforgettable experience to the visitors.
I – Vaidehi consider myself so lucky to be a part of this lively event which has so much to offer to the people who love books and who crave to meet the authors.
It has been two days since the literature festivities have started at Diggi Palace and this two-day-old fest has allowed me to discover so many amazing aspects of the books and stories behind the creations which can mesmerize you beyond limits! Without postponing it further, allow me to take you through the vivid experience of the festival!
If you’ve ever happened to be in any part of Rajasthan you might have come across thundering bugle music before the beginning of any auspicious event. At the Literature Festival, the inaugural session at The Nexa front lawn played the bugles to signify the beginning of India’s greatest literary festival in the lawns of Diggi Palace.
The music made the experience even more festive and a whiff of positivity was flowing amongst the crowd. There was certain warmth in the air that despite the chilling weather there was nothing that could stop the book lovers from expressing their love like they did!
Along with the sessions of authors, the grounds also had separate tents which had numerous things to offer. The favourite tent of mine was the one set up by Penguin India where they stacked the books on shelves and provided a comfortable seating arrangement to sit down and read a few books of choice! I absolutely loved the welcoming vibe in their tent, would like to mention the hospitality of Penguin staff was very warming –Yojna Manchanda and Pallavi had managed the entire arrangement very beautifully and efficiently.
I spent quite a time reading there and was lucky to find orange penguin bookmark in one of the books and they gifted me some penguin personalized merchandise.
Heading on to the sessions, I was blessed to be a part of the gathering in the front lawns for the Session where Gulzar Sahab along with Meghana Gulzar was talking about her new release ‘Because he is…’ which is published by Harper Collins recently.
The fate charms didn’t work up to the mark as I was not able to capture a snap with the speakers but the essence of experience couldn’t be captured in the pictures, it can be etched in the memories! Bosky and her father are definitely the people whose presence can warm your hearts!
I don’t know how many of you are aware of the epic channel which has a delicious show – named Raja, Rasoi aur Anya kahaniyan. If you’ve ever stumbled on the channel and have heard about the episodes then you might be aware of the husky-voice which plays the host throughout the show, Pushpesh Pant is known for many literary accolades and travel diaries. I happened to be around the Mughal tent during his session!
The evening sessions were decorated by the beautiful musical chords of Usha Utthup and fellows! Despite unexpected rains, the readers were not budged to leave the venue without getting enough of the festivities!
Signing off with the pictures and bytes of the events! I hope you enjoyed coming here!
